Public On Site Demonstration of the Web Site/CD Project
In addition to the On Site one day workshops held in each watershed area, Mountain Visions suggested that one or more community or town hall meetings be held to help a broader public understand the work that is being done on the web site and the need for community participation. Mountain Visions offered to present one of these meetings as an evening 2-3 hour session on the same day as the workshop. We suggested that this be promoted as an entertaining and fun event. However, for various organizational reasons these community meetings were not organized in any of the watersheds during the 2001 workshops.
These types of public meetings may be held in the future now that the web sites are fully functional. Some of the watershed groups have already given demonstrations to small groups with computers hooked up to a cable or DSL modem.
CD-ROM disks containing the entire content of the web site finalized to the end of December 2002 are now available to community watershed organizers and partners. Using a modern desktop or laptop computer with a faster CD-ROM drive connected to a data projector a large screen and good sound system would provide an excellent demonstration to large audiences or at any local, regional or national meeting or conference.
Whenever possible Mountain Visions would recommend that these public demonstrations encourage a broader base of Watershed community members to become involved in past present and future photography and web production efforts. The goal is to continue to make the web site a dynamic and constantly updated watershed community participation project.
We hope that the material on this Interactive Watersheds On-Line Production workshop will also be instrumental in stimulating a broader public participation in future watershed restoration projects and in this web site development.
