Even a novice eye can guess the state of this section of the Upper Sevier River. The wide, shallow flows, streambanks devoid of vegetation, and warm water temperatures make it difficult for fish to survive, and may even suggest the presence of more toxic pollutants. As cooperators gather together to improve the watershed for future generations, it is wise to look at those factors that have played a role in the degradation of the river, and to view those experiences as, not always necessary, but positive elements that bring us to where we are today. As we move forward, we cannot change the past, but we can change the future for the betterment of the resource as well as for good of the people. |
