Black Canyon, south of Otter Creek Reservoir and Antimony, is a narrow, rock canyon that, despite overgrazing, stream erosion and extensive roads use, has retained fairly decent fishing and waterfowl habitat. However, because of the acquisition of 600 acres of land in the 1980's by the Division of Wildlife Resources (Black Canyon Wildlife Management Area), and improvements to adjacent private and Bureau of Land Management land parcels, the Black Canyon area now boasts easier access for anglers and waterfowl hunters, as well as improved habitat for fish, waterfowl, deer and numerous other small game species. |
