Image looking straight up at 600 foot cliff walls! These reddish-orange limestone walls were deposited over 40 million years ago in the bottom of a freshwater lake. Much later in geologic history, the plateau area was lifted above the valleys of the Great Basin. Local folklore suggests that Butch Cassidy, a famous outlaw, once used this and Losee Canyon as a getaway place from local authorities!
