Midway Valley is a highly visible point along Highway 14, an east-west route from Cedar City, across Cedar Mountain to Highway 89. Recreationists, as well as tourists, frequent numerous fishing and camping spots located along the route and also access national parks in the vicinity. The recent spruce beetle outbreak has had an impact on the scenic value of Cedar Mountain and is a concern to local residents. Retaining the natural beauty of the area, while managing forested lands for events such as fire and insect outbreaks requires the cooperation of many different interest groups.
