What happens when you take a bunch of eager 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, a variety of enthusiastic teachers and resource personnel, and an abundance of natural resources in a unique, outdoor setting? Cedar Mountain Science Center (CMSC) Summer Camp, of course! Students arrive at the camp in groups of 20-30 and use scientific inquiry to study not only leopard frog populations, but also learn about water pollution, bats, rocks and minerals, biodiversity and astronomy, during their 3-day stay. Students go away with a better understanding about problems in their environment and a motivation and commitment to work collectively and individually towards problem solutions and preventions. |
