Home to trophy mule deer and Rocky Mountain elk, Mt Dutton offers many resource challenges to land managers. Many of the aspen stands are old and not reproducing; spruce beetles are beginning to kill many of the larger Englemann spruce trees; pinyon-juniper stands are continuing to expand into once productive rangelands; and off road vehicle use is increasing. These issues are all interrelated and will begin to be addressed upon completion of the Upper Sevier River Watershed Assessment in 2001. |
