Allen Henrie (chairman of the Upper Sevier River Watershed Steering Committee) obtained federal and state funding from five sources for a demonstration project on his property. He fenced riparian areas to improve management of cattle, conducted controlled burns to improve vegetation in upland areas, experimented with herbicides to control rabbit brush, planted native willows along streambanks, and replanted pastures with more productive grass species. Some of the work was carried out as part of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Dedicated Hunter Program. In 2001, Mr. Henrie received the annual Non-Point source water Quality Award from the State of Utah Non-Point Source Taskforce.
