Historically cutthroat trout meandered up and down Panguitch Creek; however, now there are just a few brown trout, and two nongame species - leatherside chub and speckled dace. Stream diversions and cattle grazing have impacted the area, and in recent years, biologists have seen little or no regrowth of crucial streamside vegetation like willow and cottonwood. Habitat work along this drainage will someday show a different picture as ongoing projects help restore this riparian area.
