An educational program, coupled with an erosion control project, construction of a fish cleaning station and improved sewage disposal systems have greatly improved water quality in the Panguitch Lake area. Prior to these efforts, the lake was plagued with high phosphorus levels and low levels of dissolved oxygen, resulting in periodic fish kills throughout the summer and winter months.
The Panguitch Lake Restoration Project, conducted by the Bureau of Water Pollution Control through cooperative management efforts with Five County Association of Governments is exemplary of multiple partners working together to improve conditions within the watershed.
