Jones Corral Project
Fire Stimulates Aspen Regrowth

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, recognizing the role of fire to stimulate aspen regeneration, funded the Jones Corral Project, 1997. These partners continue to evaluate aspen resprouting and establishment on the 1,155 treated acres of old aspen. Today, following the Jones Corral prescribed burn, some aspen are 6 feet tall! As part of the Sanford Fire monitoring, these plots were remeasured because of similarity in treatment to the Sanford and Adams Head prescribed burn.
