Deep Creek 2
Deep Creek Drainage Burned

Although only 10 percent of the Sanford area burned at high intensity, much of it occurred in the Deep Creek drainage. The fire moved quickly through this steep, remote area, making it difficult to access and hazardous for firefighters. In addition, a remnant population of native Bonneville cutthroat trout was threatened from high water temperatures, lack of cover, and high levels of debris and soot entering the stream. However, thanks to quick recovery efforts from U.S. Forest Service and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources personnel, 218 fish were recovered and temporarily placed in a nearby stream.
