The total amount of land within the perimeter of the Sanford Fire and the two prescribed burns was 78,000 acres. An assessment of the fire indicated that 50% of the area was unburned. Of the areas burned, the vegetation types affected included: 41% sagebrush, 32% mixed conifer, 8% pinyon-juniper, 7% spruce/fir, 4% aspen and 4% Mountain Mahogany.
