Within the boundaries of the Upper Sevier River Watershed, the Sanford Fire is the result of both a prescribed burn and wildland fire. This fire burned portions of 78,000 acres before it was contained on July 1, 2002. Thanks to modern technology, we can now take a journey through the Sanford Fire and study, monitor and evaluate short and long-term changes in plant and animal communities. Journey with us, as we explore the Sanford Fire.
