West Fork Hunt Creek Aspen Burn
Riparian areas, at the bottom of steep canyons, were hardest hit by the Sanford Fire. Hunt Creek, Deer Creek and Deep Creek, to name a few, burned at medium-to-high intensity. Then to make matters worse, much of the ash from the fire was washed into already degraded streams from intensive thunderstorms throughout the area. Time, long-term monitoring, and the resilience of many plant species, will all play a role in recreating the scenic value of this area.
