Clean water is one of Utahs most valuable resources! Water in the Sevier River Watershed is used for drinking water, recreation, fishery habitat, and agriculture. However, sometimes uses in one area, result in pollutants affecting uses in the other areas. The Clean Water Act requires Utah and other states to identify polluted waters and to develop Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) to help address water quality problems.
Portions of the Upper Sevier River and some of the lakes in the watershed have been listed on Utahs 303(d) list of impaired waters issued by the Utah Division of Water Quality. Monitoring programs, with data sets going back over many years, help resource personnel identify and address water quality problems within the watershed.
